The Segregation Explorer includes a number of publicly available data files, technical documentation, and data codebooks, listed below. Most data files are available in Stata and .csv formats.

Version 1.0 Notes
The currently available data include school composition data and racial/ethnic and economic segregation data for: geographic districts, administrative districts, counties, commuting zones, metropolitan areas (Core-Based Statistical Areas and metropolitan divisions), states, and the nation from 1991 to 2022. A geographic crosswalk is provided linking schools to larger geographies.
The most recent release (currently, Version 1.0) should always be used for reporting and analysis. Please review the technical documentation and codebooks that accompany the data sets. These documents review the data construction process and describe the contents of each file.
